What we work on
Every plan starts from your child's own position: a recent paper, a mock, or the topics their teacher has flagged. From there the work usually divides into three strands — closing the gaps in the underlying mathematics, drilling the topics that carry the most marks, and building the exam technique that turns understanding into marks on the page.
That last part is the one most often missed. Students lose marks to misread questions, unshown working, calculator slips and time pressure long after they understand the content.

When to start

Year 10
The easiest place to begin. There is room to close gaps before they compound, and exam technique can be built gradually rather than crammed.

Early Year 11
Still comfortable. Mocks give us real data about where marks are going, and there is time to act on it before the final papers.

Final term
Focused and narrow. We work almost entirely from past papers, targeting the highest-yield topics and the specific habits costing marks.
Common questions
Which exam boards do you cover?
Cambridge IGCSE, Edexcel IGCSE, AQA and GCSE Mathematics, at both Core and Extended tier. The syllabuses overlap heavily, so the starting point is always your child's own specification and past papers.
What is the difference between Core and Extended tier?
Extended covers additional topics and is graded across a higher range; Core covers a smaller syllabus with a capped top grade. Schools normally decide the entry tier, often part-way through Year 10. I can go through the difference with you and give an honest view of where your child currently sits.
When should we start IGCSE preparation?
Earlier is easier. Starting in Year 10 leaves room to close gaps before they compound, and to build exam technique gradually. Starting in Year 11 still works — the approach simply shifts to past papers and the topics losing the most marks.
Are lessons in English or German?
Lessons are taught in English, because the exam is in English and the vocabulary matters. If a concept isn't landing, I can explain it in German, French, Ukrainian or Russian, then return to the English terms.
Do you teach online or in person?
Both. In person across Berlin, and online for students elsewhere in Germany and Europe. Past papers work well online — we annotate the same paper together on screen.
